Digital Literacy - "The Trial of Freddie Fungus"

Students used the PLAY "The Trial of Freddie Fungus" to learn about the basic characteristics of the pathogen - FUNGI!

In collaborating with a Language Arts teacher, I was made aware that the uses of similies, metaphors, and personification have been taught in the ELA classes.  BOOM ... COLLABORATION! :)

What do you think of our actors and actresses?  More importantly ... what did you learn about FUNGI?

LAB - Bacteria Where?!? Bacteria EVERYWHERE!

A tad behind ... but we're back!  Students through all six classes were able to test for bacterial growth from the following four locations.

1.  Door Knob
2.  Mouth (under tongue)
3.  Desktop
4.  Bottom of Shoe

Angie Doty and Daniela Pineda-Ramos counting for bacterial colonies!
After about a week of incubation, students were able to see large bacterial colonies form.  They counted the number of colonies and were able to hypothesize why they should wash their shoes :).

So ... why do you think the "Bottom of Shoe" seemed to have the most bacterial growth.
